I'm working on a talk on DRAM compression. Some of the earliest consumer products in this area were SoftRAM for Windows 95 (a fake which didn't compress at all!) and Connectix RAM Doubler for classic MacOS (which did actually work).
Did anyone ever try to reverse engineer RAM Doubler (and write about it) – or is there perhaps source code for RAM Doubler available somewhere?

Großen Dank an Jón Haukur, der sich heute über zwei Stunden Zeit genommen hat, mich über fast alle der nagelneuen Lavaschutzwälle rund um die Blaue Lagune, das Kraftwerk Svartsengi und das noch immer quasi evakuierte Städtchen Grindavík zu fahren. Diese Wälle sind bis zu 16m hoch.

Grindavík ist eine Geisterstadt. Nur drei Häuser wurden durch eine unerwartete Lavazunge zerstört, aber etliche haben durch die Bewegungen des Untergrunds meterbreite Risse, Dächer stehen bedenklich schief.
Der isländische Staat hat vielen der Bürger ihre Häuser abgekauft. Wodurch aktuell wenige Menschen zur Rückkehr motiviert sind. Nur die Fischfabriken am Hafen sind unbeschädigt und laufen weiter.

There are a few #Friendica features that I love and yeah, there are some problems that drive me nuts, but two wonderful features are its seamless integration with #Bluesky, if you also have a Bluesky account, and the auto following of threads you in any way reacted to, either with a like, boost or reply.
The Bluesky integration is part and parcel of your Friendica account if the Admin enabled it. Not all do. And there is wonderfully no idiotic opt-in requirement like with the Bluesky ActivityPub bridge.
Here is a Bluesky message I found in my Friendica feed. I didn't realize at the time it originated in Bluesky because everything is so seamless. I replied to it, in Friendica, but it also was replied to by my Bluesky account.
All the likes and boosts are consolidated in Friendica and replies from Bluesky show up as if they came from any ActivityPub instance. There's a little icon with the messages to show their origin. This is wonderful decentralization.
And because I replied to a post, I get a notification for every other reply to the original message so I can stay in the conversation. In Mastodon, you have to remember to check back to see if there is any further discussion. It won't track the discussion for you.

#gemini protocol uses TLS, but has a history of preferring self-signed certificates. This led to the decision for clients to use TOFU (Trust on First Use) as the go-to method. We have TLSA/DANE available if your domain supports DNSSEC. With that, you can give your self-signed certificate trust, even on first use.
I've long promoted the idea that clients should implement this. The more clients there are that look for it, the more value there is in adding DANE records.

Nachdem wir den Jänner sträflich vernachlässigt haben, und auch der Feber schon ein paar Tage vorbei ist, endlich unser monatliches Sonnenstrom Update für das letzte Monat:
Vor allem gegen Monatsende ging es schon ordentlich bergauf mit der #Fernfusionsenergie. An drei Tagen konnten wir sogar schon die 100 kWh Marke knacken! Rein rechnerisch sind wir also schon im Feber autark! Im März sollte dann ein Eigenstromanteil >90% locker drin sein.
PV-Produktion: 1615 kWh
Einspeisung: 493 kWh
Eigenverbrauch: 1122 kWh
Verbrauch Netz: 327 kWh
Gesamtverbrauch: 1449 kWh
davon E-Auto laden: 299 kWh
Eigenverbrauchsrate: 69 %
PV Anteil am Gesamtverbrauch: 77 %
Hintergrundinfos:
Das ist eine 30 kWp Anlage, gepaart mit einem 30 kWh Speicher der aber nur zu 80 % genutzt wird (20 % Reserve). Daran hängen 2 Einfamilienhäuser und ein Weinbaubetrieb. Der eingespeiste Überschuss geht dann zum Teil noch in eine Energiegemeinschaft für weitere Familienmitglieder.
