This is what happens. You get a new/faster Raspberry Pi for a project and the question about what to do with the old stuff becomes an even bigger one. You all know that - right? RIGHT???
Well, this Raspi 3 now acts as a dashboard with info screen, automation controller and also as a streaming radio player. But oh boy, Firefox or Chromium are so slow on this device that i had to write my own UI to make it even usable. Python, Flask and Javascript to the rescue...
Two things are now missing. A faster browser and, more importantly. We need a name for this kind of hand-things-down activity. Ideas anyone?

Testing #MeshCom on a Lilygo T-Deck Plus.
Text messages and positional data sent to aprs.fi via a #LoRa #Mesh. Not unlike #meshtastic but the protocol is specifically designed hor hamradio purposes.
The T-Deck support is a bit preliminary but the basic stuff works already. For other LoRa Modules there is a smartphone App.
Trying out Meshcom by passing messages between LoRa, traditional APRS on 2m FM and the Internet. This is pretty awesome!
For good measure, APRS over TCP is done with Xastir running on a sBitX HF SDR which includes a Raspberry Pi. Because that's how we radio *@Metafunk β‘

Man kann die Spaltenansicht auch umschalten, da gibts die "Ein" umd "Mehrspaltenoption" Und man kann kann Apps benutzen.. Oder gleich eine der vielen Alternativen von Mastodon.

Until recently I only knew CPC computers from online pictures. Well that has changed because I just got a Schneider CPS 464 (the German version of the Amstrad CPC 464).
What can I say - it's really cool. I now have to build some cables to be able to check if it is still working. But it's in good condition so I'm rather confident. There's only one capacitor inside from what I figured out from online sources so what could possibly go wrong.

Wie divers ist das #Fediverse?
Nach den vielen Diskussionen der letzten Tage, darΓΌber ob man das Fediverse auch einfach "#Mastodon Netzwerk" nennen kann, darf oder gar sollte, interessiert mich diese Frage tatsΓ€chlich.
Ich habe daher mal bei mir selber nachgesehen, mit fΓΌr mich ΓΌberraschenden Ergebnissen. Nach Servern liegt Mastodon zwar vorne, kommt aber insgesamt nur auf etwa ein Drittel der verbundenen Server, knapp gefolgt von #WordPress. Also das hΓ€tte ich nicht gedacht! Alle anderen Dienste bewegen sich hingegen im einstelligen Prozentbereich, was aber auch noch zum Teil gut ΓΌber 1000 individuelle Server bedeutet.
Nach angemeldeten (nicht aktiven) Nutzern kommt Mastodon auf gut 70% - das entspricht schon eher meinen Erwartungen. Bei den aktiven Nutzern wΓ€re das nach meiner Vermutung weniger. Das ist aber nur eine Vermutung und die Zahlen konnte ich auf die Schnelle nicht herausfinden. Trotzdem. Eine Mastodon Monokultur sieht anders aus. Und das ist auch gut so!
Wer kann weitere Daten beitragen? Ich bitte darum!
Recreational Computing of the day - using a Mega65 and a Link232 WiFi Modem built for C64s to connect to the snobsoft.de BBS.
Lot's of technology on my side although with the original Look&Feel - yes I was to lazy to set up the real, period-correct hardware.
But this i not true for the BBS. Snobsoft.de still runs on the original Hardware! A C64, two Disk Drives and it even offers real Modem connections (besides Telnet). It just had a brief hiatus of a few decades but is now reachable again!

Just built a few wireless temperature/humidity sensors with Raspberry Picos and DHT22s.
I've been running a pretty extended 1-wire network for many years. It has always been very reliable except the temperature/humidity/brightness sensors I had deployed. No filters, repeaters, network splitting etc. could really remedy the problems. Now removed the 1-wire Multisensors and deployed this wireless alternative while the other 1-wire devices remain in use.
The new devices cost around 10 euros each and programming them with with micropython is a piece of cake for anyone who has some experience using microcontrollers. The Data are sent to OpenHab using MQTT, integrating nicely with the existing setup.
When I started to build my sensor network almost 20 years ago, these devices did not exist of course. But today I'd build almost everything using WIFI enabled microcontrollers and MQTT. No pulling cables, no devices taking down the entire network when failing and it's cheaper too. That is pretty awesome!

Unsere PV-Bilanz fΓΌr den Juni. Nicht schlecht, trotz des eher wechselhaften Wetters.
PV-Produktion: 4834 kWh
Einspeisung: 2335 kWh
Eigenverbrauch: 2499 kWh
Verbrauch Netz: 97 kWh
Gesamtverbrauch: 2596 kWh
davon E-Auto laden: 189 kWh
Eigenverbrauchsrate: 51,7 %
PV Anteil am Gesamtverbrauch: 96,25 %
Das ist eine 30 kWp Anlage, gepaart mit einem 30 kWh Speicher der aber nur zu 80 % genutzt wird (20 % Reserve). Daran hΓ€ngen 2 EinfamilienhΓ€user und ein Weinbaubetrieb. Der eingespeiste Γberschuss geht dann zum Teil noch in eine Energiegemeinschaft fΓΌr weitere Familienmitglieder.
